Charlotte and Ian are a great couple. We first met up at Ogden Water for their pre-wedding shoot. This is a favorite place of mine to take my dog, Wilson, but it is also a great place to do a shoot. It wasn't the warmest of days, but we managed to get some lovely photos of Charlotte and Ian just being themselves.
Don't forget these pre-wedding shoots are absolutely free, and it's a great chance to get to know the couple and for them to get to know you prior to the wedding. As you can see from above, they both soon got into this shoot and felt relaxed having a camera on them throughout.
So before the big day we arranged a chat to go through timings and how the day was going to play out. Just so, you know, I wasn't in one place and they were in another place.
The big day arrived. This was at The Great Victoria Hotel, it's a place where I have done many weddings and I am very familiar with what the hotel offers in the way of nice photo opportunities.
The Great Victoria Hotel, https://www.victoriabradford.co.uk . They offer a personal service and make sure the Bride and Grooms needs for the day are met, and the hotel has great character.
The getting-ready part of the day is always great to capture. You see the couple excited, slightly nervous, and more than ever, the room where they're getting ready has a great atmosphere.
Everything, as in most cases, was going smoothly. The bridesmaids were always on hand to make sure Charlotte was as relaxed as possible. They were in the penthouse suite at The Great Victoria Hotel, so they had plenty of space to stretch out.
As you can see, Charlotte's mum Julie was applying the final touches to Charlotte's dress and hair. So where is Phil, Charlotte's dad? Well, this was pretty emotional, but it was time for Phil to see his beautiful daughter for the first time in her amazing dress.
Proud dad moment, arms open wide to embrace his daughter.
This moment of Dad seeing his daughter in her dress has clearly brought some expected emotion. Does anyone have a spare tissue?
Final touches, and it's time to go get married.
Ian stood waiting for his bride. After the lovely bridesmaids walked down the aisle, it was time for Charlotte and her dad, Phil, to walk down the aisle. I would have loved to capture the reaction of both Ian and Charlotte, but I had my spot to capture Charlotte.
The Celebrant Lucy was excellent, she added lots of humour, but also emotion to the ceremony. Julie, Phil, Kay and Steve the parents all got the brunt of it.
During the ceremony the guests were invited to write there wishes for the newly weds which was a really nice touch.
Both Charlotte and Ian read their personal vows to each other. I won't show all the emotional photos, but both Charlotte and Ian and the guests were filling up at this stage, and I had a big smile on my face hidden behind the camera.
What an amazing ceremony, made all the better by the celebrant. Lucy, Charlotte, and Ian were married. It's always good to see the couple relax after the ceremony. So after some formal shots of the close family and bridal party , it was time to walk back down the aisle as husband and wife.
As is a common theme for these blogs, the weather was great, so we headed outside for a confetti and group shot whilst everybody was in close proximity.
Apart from the smaller group shots the rest of the guests could go let there hair down and enjoy the time between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
Since it's what I'm here to do and it would be very rude not to, Charlotte, Ian, and I went to get some photos. I am aware of the limited time we have before the wedding breakfast, so I try to get these photos done as efficiently as possible. I generally check the venue out before the wedding to look for good spots. But since I'd done lots of weddings here before, we got straight on with it.
Next were the speeches and wedding breakfast... I can feel another emotional moment coming on. Phil, the father of the bride, did his speech. What a lovely chap; he delivered his speech superbly, as did all the people who delivered their speeches. It's always good to get their speeches out of the way; that way, they can enjoy their meal.
After a short interval, it was time for the evening event, first the cutting of the cake, then the first dance. I got close to the couple during parts of the dance to capture the moments between them.
Mmm, what was tickling them both here.
What a great day! This happy couple was really good to capture. Apart from the posed shots, I try not to instruct too much, and so there were many great moments I was able to capture of both Charlotte and Ian.
Good on you both, keep having fun like you did on your wedding day. All the very best to you.
